The Best Recipes for National Mimosa Day

What would brunch be without a mimosa? May 16th is recognized as National Mimosa Day so it's the perfect time to try a twist on this classic brunch beverage! You won't be disappointed in these satisfying and versatile recipes:

 

strawberry mimosa

Recipe from Mindful Avocado

1. Add 1/2 cup strawberries and 2 cups orange juice to blender and blend until smooth.
2. Pour champagne in flute and top with strawberry-orange juice puree. 

 

hawaiian mimosas

Recipe from Crazy For Crust

1. For one mimosa, add one ounce of coconut rum and two ounces of pineapple juice to champagne flute. Top with champagne and garnish with pineapple and/or cherries.
2. For pitcher, add 1 cup of coconut rum, 2 cups of pineapple juice, and an entire 750mL bottle of champagne to pitcher. Add pineapple slices and/or cherries for garnish.

Yield: 6 cups

1. Stir together 2 cups of orange juice, 1 cup of pineapple juice, and 2 tablespoons of grenadine.
2. Pour equal parts orange juice mixture and champagne into champagne flutes.

1. Cut 1 large peeled, pitted mango into cubes.
2. Blend mango cubes with 1 cup orange juice.
3. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of mango-orange juice puree into 4-6 chilled champagne flutes
3. Pour prosecco over puree.
4. Add 1-2 tablespoons of pomegranate liquer to each champagne glass.
5. Garnish with orange slices.

1. Fill your glass with 4 small scoops of sherbet or sorbet.
2. Top with 1 tablespoon vodka (clementine or sherbet flavored vodka recommended).
3. Top with champagne and fresh fruit of choice.

1. In a large pitcher, mix 2 cups chilled orange juice, 2 tablespoons chilled heavy cream, and 2 teaspoons granulated sugar and stir.
2. Pour into glasses equally and top with champagne.

1. Fill each compartment of a 12-cube ice cube tray about 1/3 full with water and freeze until solid. Puree 5 ounces of fresh raspberries. Add 1-2 teaspoons of puree to each cube compartment. Freeze until solid. Top off each compartment with water and freeze until solid.
2. Pour 1/2 cup chilled grenadine into a large pitcher. Freeze for 30 minutes or until grenadine is very cold and thick. Slowly pour 2 cups of orange juice into the pitcher. Slowly pour half a bottle of sparkling dry white wine into pitcher. After fizz subsides, pour remaining bottle of sparkling wine into pitcher. Top with 5 ounces of raspberries.
3. To serve, stir the cocktail in pitcher. Add the ice cubes to champagne flutes and top with cocktail.

absolut mimosa

1. Combine 25mL chilled Absolut vodka and 50mL orange juice in champagne glass.
2. Top with champagne.

1. Tilt champagne flute at 45 degree angle and slowly fill glass halfway with rosé champagne.
2. Top champagne flute with grapefruit juice and garnish with fresh grapefruit slices. 

 

watermelon mimosas

1. Blend together 4 cups cubed watermelon, juice from 1 lime, and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar. Strain mixture through a fine mesh sieve and discard solids. 
2. Fill champagne flutes halfway with watermelon mixture and top off with champagne. Garnish glasses with mint sprigs and a watermelon wedge.
